Description: Hotel Miramare is one of the Hotel in Naples. The Bay of Naples once reached Via Santa Lucia, the street that runs behind and parallel to Via Nazario Sauro where Hotel Miramare is located. The road along the sea changes name along the way (Via Caracciolo, Via Partenope, Via N. Sauro). Hotel Miramare is on the lungomare, a street that was built over the natural sand in the late 19th century. Hotel Miramare was originally built as an aristocratic villa in 1914 and was transformed into a hotel in 1944 after it housed the American Consulate for a short time. It was once the only hotel in Naples- as the others had been damaged during WWII. After the war, newspaper articles and social columns wrote about the numerous activities and events sponsored by Hotel Miramare- making its name synonymous with the rebirth of Naples. Hotel Miramare was first known for its famous restaurant-piano bar, The Shaker Club, which was open from the 1940's to mid-'80's. This was a very popular nightclub which attracted many celebrities, dignitaries, and other top industrial leaders to the hotel. An appealing little hotel in an excellent position on the waterfront between the S.Carlo Opera and Castel dell'Ovo. Handy for ferries, other major sights and shopping areas. A spectacular view of the bay with the Vesuvio, Sorrento Coast and Capri from the beautiful terrace where a healthy breakfast can be appreciated. Miramare guests can enjoy special attention, two nearby restaurants and two piano bar restaurants owned by the same family. Driving Directions:
Naples Airport (NAP) - NE After the airport exit, turn right and take the "tangenziale" in the direction of Pozzuoli. Exit at "Fuorigrotta" and keep going straight. Go through the small tunnel and keep going straight in the direction of Campi Flegrei Station which is at the end of the street. Turn left and go straight, passing through a longer tunnel. After the tunnel, take the second right (the sea will be in front of you) and then make a left (the sea will be on your right hand side). Keep going straight for about 3 km. and you will see Hotel Miramare, a small grey and pink villa, on your left (just before the road turns left away from the sea).
