From Milano Malpensa Airport: Take highway direction Milano. After 9.4 miles at the interchange follow direction Milano. After 12.5 miles at the interchange follow direction Como-Chiasso (CH). Stay on this highway until Lugano sud (south) exit. At the end of the highway, go onto the left lane and at traffic light (1) turn left. Go uphill, at traffic light (2) go straight. At next traffic light (3) continue straight. After 1 mile slow down and look for a railway crossing on your left. When you see it, continue 10 meters on the main road and take the very next little street on your right. It is marked "Cattedrale" and "Federale". Then turn left, go down the steep road. At the bottom turn left and after 20 meters you are at the hotel.
From Highway A2/E35 coming from North - S
From Highway A2/E35 coming from north: Leave the highway at exit Lugano-Nord and travel for about 1.9 miles along the connecting road until the end of the highway. At the traffic light, take the middle lane and just follow this main street down towards the city center. Keep going until you are in a short tunnel. Then take the right lane and turn right at the traffic light. At the round about go straight and continue for 150 meters (450 feet) TAKE THE FIRST SMALL ROAD ON THE LEFT you see after the round point. The arrow showing the hotel name is small, so watch carefully. Keep going left and down the steep road. At the bottom, turn left the last time and 20 meters away, on your right, is the Hotel Federale.
Auf Deutsch - In German: Von Norden herkommend auf der A2/E35 Autobahn: Verlassen Sie die Autobahn bei der Ausfahrt Lugano-Nord und fahren Sie auf der Ausfahrtstrasse fuer cirka 3KM bis zum Ende der Autobahn (Ampel) - Bei der Ampelanlage, begeben Sie sich auf die mittlere Fahrbahn und folgen der Strasse ins Stadtzentrum. Gehen Sie weiter runter, bis Sie in einem kurzen Tunnel sind - Hier bitte auf die rechte Fahrbahn einspuren und gleich bei der Tunnelausfahrt rechts abbiegen - Nach cirka 300 Meter erreichen Sie ein Verkehrsrondel: geradeaus fahren fuer cirka 150 Meter - BIEGEN SIE IN DIE ERSTE KLEINE STRASSE NACH DEM VERKEHRSRONDEL NACH LINKS AB. Die Tafel mit dem Hotelnamen ist leider sehr klein, Sie muessen daher gut aufpassen. Weiter links abbiegen und die steile Strasse hinunterfahren - Unten angekommen, ein letztes Mal links abbiegen und nach 20 Metern auf der rechten Strassenseite ist das Hotel Federale.
